Wan Hu was a legendary figure from the Ming Dynasty, who was described by 20th century sources as the world's first "astronaut". Legend says he dreamt of space travel, thus his first spacecraft involved a wicker chair attached to forty-seven candle-ignited rockets, in hopes to propel him into outer space. His lifelong dream and vehicle resulted in failure, thus punished and sent to his death by the emperor of that time. Another story of Icarus from across the globe, however candle-lit, and not sun-burnt.
